The VW Golf 8 has been equipped with vehicle diagnostic protection, known as SFD, since its market launch. When retrofitting an original VW rear view camera in these vehicles, the car must either be unlocked online via Volkswagen using a paid action code or manually coded with significant effort – which is only possible if the SFD protection is temporarily disabled during coding.

Installation notes:
- Remove tailgate trim and replace tailgate emblem with new emblem including integrated camera
- Route wiring harness into the passenger compartment; connection of the supplied cable is made at the camera interface
- Connect the camera interface according to the enclosed instructions (see downloads)
- No coding of the vehicle is required after installation!!
Additional notes:
- *In case of incomplete compatibility of the vehicle CAN bus with the interface or when using analog connection, the functions "dynamic guide lines" and "optical PDC display" are not available. In this case, the guide lines are displayed statically.
- In vehicles with CAN-FD, the interface must be connected analog. Please check in advance whether an analog reverse signal is available (e.g. at the reverse light). Optical PDC display and static guide lines are possible; dynamic guide lines are not available (static lines can be activated via the camera). To determine whether CAN-FD is present in your vehicle, a current diagnostic device or CAN finder is required – please send this together with the VIN to technik@wibutec.de.
